The Academy - Part Six: UMC

"CADET! pay attention! You're about to learn of the pride of ConFed, the UMC! The Ship crews and marines of the UMC are fearless warriors who enjoy nothing better than ramming a thermal nuclear device up a zerg where the sun don't shine. Who knows, even you may one day grow up to be a member of the UMC."

The Confederation is broken into branches. The first we will discuss is the UMC or United Military Command branch. The UMC is ConFed's main branch and consists of the majority of ConFed members; probably as many if not more than the rest of ConFed put together. UMC consists of 2 Fleets of Starships.

UMC ranks are split into two segments, Command Staff and Ship's Crew. The main difference is Command Staff (officers) are higher ranked but MUST be very active (online a lot of the time). Crew need only appear once or twice a week, though ConFed appreciates more time should the crew member be able to give it. The UMC is ruled by the UMC Fleet Admiral and the Admirals.

The main criteria for rising in rank as an enlisted is killing a specified number of Zerg (Roach) players (not computer opponents), abiding 100% with ConFed law, remaining RESPECTFUL to other members and keeping out of verbal fights, AND remaining at each rank a certain number of days before asking for a promotion. The higher the enlisted rank, the longer you must wait before moving onto the next.

The main criteria for rising in rank as officer include the same as enlisted, and also recruiting a certain number of people to ConFed that MUST graduate the academy, and also being online a minimum number of hours a week. The higher the officer rank, the more hours required of the person. If you do not have a lot of time to play on b.net, do not petition for officer rank.

UMC Members only have authority over other UMC members. UMC members may issue orders to lower ranked UMC's, but can NOT issue orders to SSA, CRA, or members of any other branch, no matter what rank the UMC is. It is expected that the UMC's cooperate with the other branch members regardless.

You should now take some time to look at the UMC ranks. Go to the Ranks page and return here when you are done.

You have completed part six. If you have any questions ask a member of CRA for help (look for Branch: CRA in member profiles).
